About SSSDC

The SSSDC was formed in March 2011 as a Section 25 Company (Not for Profit). As per requirement of NSDC, the board of directors comprise lead players of PSS in terms of turnover besides end users and other stake holders. These include G4S, Tops Security, Checkmate Services, Bombay Intelligence Security India, ISS SDB, SLV Security Services, SSMS, Premier Shield, Securitas India, Trig Guardforce, SAI, KSS and an Agency representing smaller companies. It is also represented by members from NSDC, CAPSI, CII, FICCI and Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) amongst others.

Sector Profile of Security

    The presence of a security guard at a business can provide peace of mind and a sense of security to the business owner, employees and customers. The demand for Security Services are required in all of the sectors including warehouses, business complex, residential society, malls, etc. So this sector has a never ending demand in today’s high risk environment.

It aims to transform the PSS from an unorganised industry to an organised one by taking initiatives on developing the driving forces of knowledge and skills to address the interests of all stakeholders of the industry.

Objectives

    Promote skill development of the manpower in the PSS and narrow existing gaps between demand and supply.

    Develop framework for upgrading skills of Security Guards to international standards.

    Undertake research to identify future requirements in training and skill enhancement.

    Initiate, carry out, execute, implement, aid and assist activities towards skill development in the PSS.

    Develop skill development plan for the PSS.

    Determine skill/competency standards and qualifications.

    Plan and execute Training of Trainers.

    Promote academies of excellence.

    Establish well structured ‘Labour Market Information System’ to assist planning and delivery of training.

    Facilitate in standardizing the affiliation and accreditation process for the PSS.

    Identify skill development needs, review international trends and identify sector skill gaps and technology.

    Undertake task of education and vocational skill upgrades.

    Facilitate in setting up robust and stringent certification and accreditation process to ensure acceptability of standards.

Certification for Unarmed Security Guard

    The primary role of the individual entails guarding designated premises and people by manning the first tier of protection aided by appropriate security devices/equipment. The core responsibility includes guarding against theft, criminal acts, emergencies, fire and other contingencies.

    An Unarmed Security Guard needs to bear a good moral character, pleasing deportment, healthy habits and good grooming in addition to being physically fit, mentally robust, intelligent, committed and proficient. Security Guard needs to be alert, calm and confident and maintain a personal demeanour that helps him/her to control situations effectively using personal initiative. The role requires effective communication. The Guard’s presence needs to generate confidence in perilous situations.
